At Spenomatic, we are committed to delivering sustainable solar energy solutions for tea processing and manufacturing that improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and minimize environmental impact. This 2.4MW solar power installation, deployed across two tea processing plants, demonstrates how renewable energy can transform energy-intensive industrial operations.
This large-scale solar project consists of a 2.4MW solar PV system installed across two production facilities. The system generates more than 5GWh of clean electricity annually, supplying approximately 17% of the plants' total power demand. The primary goal of the project is to transition to renewable energy while lowering electricity costs and reducing carbon emissions.
Tea processing relies heavily on continuous and reliable power for withering, drying, extraction, and packaging. To support these operations, a custom-engineered solar energy system was integrated to meet high production demands without disruption.
The solar installation helps reduce dependence on grid electricity while improving overall energy reliability. It also works seamlessly alongside other renewable energy sources, including hydropower, biogas, and steam energy, creating a balanced and resilient clean energy mix.
In addition, the system delivers significant financial benefits. The project is expected to generate annual savings of USD 300,000 to 400,000, helping the facilities manage rising energy costs more effectively. Environmentally, the installation prevents an estimated 2,000 tonnes of COÔéé emissions each year, supporting long-term sustainability objectives.
As a result of this project, 60% of the facilities' electricity now comes from renewable sources. Energy security has improved, ensuring stable production even during grid fluctuations. The project also positions the facilities as leaders in sustainable tea processing, setting a strong benchmark for environmentally responsible industrial operations.
This project highlights how combining solar power with other renewable energy sources can shape the future of tea production. By focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability, the initiative supports a cleaner, more resilient manufacturing sector.
